If you are a frequent email reader, then you have no doubt taken a few fun email surveys. These can range from enticing titles like how good of a kisser are you to the absurd what 50's sitcom character are you.

While these fun email surveys are by no means meant to be a cheap substitute for psychotherapy, they can be fun, and they do give the survey taker a little bit of insight about himself / herself. For instance, I was shocked to find that Superman was the comic book character that I was most like personality wise, and I am someone people feel they can depend on.

Most of these surveys aren't written by professional psychologists, and sometimes it shows when multiple people take the survey and 90 percent of them get the same result. This happens when the email surveys questions are structured in such a way as to lead the survey taker to a certain answer. The best fun personal surveys are the ones that provide many different results by a multitude of survey takers.

Sometimes when the survey is over, you can see how many other people received the same result as you. Or, if the survey is printed in a community forum, such as a message board, you can see the results your friends have come up with, so long as they post them.

Something that has become popular recently is people posting fun email surveys to their blog or webpage. When I see these I can get some aspect of the posters personality, even If I don't know them very well.

And it is surprising that some of my closest friends have survey results that are the polar opposite of my own. I guess if everyone was the same, it would be a very boring world. Having friends and family with different views than mine helps keep life interesting.

If you ever take one of these surveys, and are simply aghast at the results, remember that most of the time fun email surveys aren't written by professionals and they shouldn't be taken too seriously. Online personal surveys are meant to be fun, and no one knows you better than you.
